About Boigu

Boigu Island is a mud flat country surrounded by mangroves and the sea, situated in the top western part of the Torres Strait, which lies 5km away from the coast line of Papua New Guinea and 40km north from the main administrative centre in Thursday Island.

Boigu has a population of approximatley 300-400 people living on the island. There are various agencies at Boigu which consist of Council staff, Health centre, local primary school, sport & recreation officer, Immergration, Aqis, Indigenous Knowledge Centre and many more.
